A Road Map for Person-Centred Counselling

In response to a desire from myself and colleagues to find accessible ways to explain Person-Centred Personality Theory I created this Zine. It uses metaphors related to cars and motoring to present the, sometimes confusing, theories of Carl Rogers et al. You can read the zine here

This may be a useful study tool for students of The Person-Centred Approach or Physchology in general. It may offer qualified counsellors a way to recap on the theory. It may also be useful as a psychoeducational tool for therapists to use with clients.

The artwork was created from collaging old maps and car magazines.

Rogers believed that his theories needed to grow and develop if they were to stay relevant. With this in mind I have tried to present the information using plain language, metaphor and colorful visuals.

Because Carl Rogers was writing for academic and scientific audiences his theories were often presented in ways that can seem inaccessible to the contemporary reader. Rogers believed that his theories needed to grow and develop if they were to stay relevant. With this in mind I have tried to present the information using plain language, metaphor and colorful visuals.

I aim to share a video version of the zine here soon.

If you are interested in using this as a teaching resource please let me know and I’ll be happy to share a digital copy.
